Iver Kanten Cabin

The Kantens spent their first winter in Tunsberg Township in a dug-out.  In the summer of 1870, Iver and his sons constructed a log cabin.  It is believed that Anne Kanten Alm was born in this cabin in 1872.  The cabin is now displayed at the Yellow Medicine Historical Society's outdoor museum.

The Kanten cabin was used as a church and as a school after the family built a larger home.
Furnishings and artifacts displayed in the cabin have been donated to the museum from many sources.
