Ole becomes an American Citizen

On November 26, 1901, Ole and his sons-in-law Erik Rekstad and John Moe appeared before G. E. Quale in the twelfth judicial district, State of Minnesota and County of Chippewa. Ole became a naturalized American citizen.  It can be speculated that citizenship offered some advantage to Ole as a resident of the poor farm in Sfarta township where he would live out his days.

Although Ole made his mark as "Ole Erickson Alm" (he was illiterate),  the naturalization document identifies him elsewhere in error as Ole Erickson Moe.
