Otto's Daughter

Frances Evangeline Grover 

Born: April 10, 1917 in Clay County, Minnesota

Died: January 19, 2004 in Bend, Oregon

Frances was a Frances and Stan Hansen wedding portraitgifted artist who completed  art school in Minneapolis after  attending Moorhead (MN) State Teacher's College.

 

She and her parents moved to Oregon in the fall of 1937, joining family members who were already there. 

 

Frances married Stanley Hansen on June 22, 1941.

 

In 1949, Stan and Frances moved with their two children to southern California to join Rev. Samuel and Pauline Hansen in the family business, Hansen's Church Films.  They added two more children to the family there.

 

The Hansens returned to Oregon in 1970 where  Fran had her own studio in Salem. She taught oil painting there and later at Chameketa Community College.  In 1975 she and Stan moved to Scotts Mill, living part time at Seal Rock on the Oregon coast.  Fran continued to teach in Silverton, Mount Angel and Salem while her husband worked in the Crippled  3 of the Hansen kids - 1950's Children's division at OHSU.

 

Her husband died in 1980 and Fran moved back to Bend in 1984 where she was active in a variety of activities including Serenaders, Singing Seniors, Sagebrushers, Central Oregon Artists Assn. in Bend and Yaquine Art Association on Nye Beach in Newport.  She was a member of First Lutheran Church.

 

Frances was 86 years old when she died January 19, 2004 in Bend.  She and Stan are buried at Valley View Cemetery, Silverton.
