Donald LeRoy Nordskog 1935-2007

Donald Nordskog, age 71, of Bejou, MN, died Tuesday, January 30, 2007, at his home.
 
    Donald LeRoy Nordskog was born June 28, 1935, in rural Thompson, IA, the oldest of Grant and Amanda Katherine (Hegland) Nordskog's seven children. He grew up in Thompson where he attended school. Donald later served his country in both the United States Army and the United States Air Force. While in the military, he was stationed in the South Pole for several months working on what he referred to as "the wonder city under the ice." In addition to his military career, Donald was in the welding profession working construction for many years. Donald retired in the Mahnomen, MN, area and recently moved into his home in Bejou.
     Donald loved to fish and went to the lake as much as he could. Donald's faith was an important part of his life and he was active with the United Church of God in Fargo, ND. He spent many hours reading about God and listening to church sermons on tape. Donald also liked to visit with people and simply spending time with friends.
     He is survived by three sons,  two brothers, three sisters and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
     Donald was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Darrell.
     A memorial service was held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 5, 2007, at the Anderson~Mattson Funeral Home Chapel, Mahnomen, MN, with Pastor Herbert Teitgen officiating. Military Honors were provided by Isaacson-Bjorge Post #31 of the American Legion. Interment took place at New Sweden Cemetery in McIntosh, MN.
