From the Fargo Forum

From the Fargo (ND) Forum:

Lt. Durward J. Hegland, who recently completed twin-engine advanced training at the Pampa army air field, Pampa, Texas, where he received his wings and commission, is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Hegland, 455 Fifteenth Av S.  The lieutenant will report Sept. 25 to Waco, Texas for advanced training.  A graduate of MSTC high school and a former MSTC student, he entered service in 1944.  In civil life he served as a flying instructor with army and navy units at Kenosha and Racine, Wis., and Minot.

This clipping "from the family trunk" was undated, but likely appeared early in 1945.

In his career with the Air Force, D J attained the rank of Lt. Colonel.
