Harold A Bekkerus was born February 20, 1918 near Moorhead where he grew up and attended country school in District #64, then MSTC High School. He attended Concordia College, Moorhead. He married Jane Preston in Moorhead on July 20, 1938. He attended National Boy Scouts of America Executive Training School in Mendham, New Jersey, and then worked for the Boy Scouts. He served with the US Marines in the Pacific during World War II. After the military, he worked various sales positions in various locations until his retirement in 1977. After retirement they moved to Big Cormorant Lake near Lake Park, Minn. and then moved back to Moorhead in 1989. Harold passed away Friday, May 10, 1991, at a local hospital, at the age of 73.
