Thor Hegland Succumbs at 83
Rites Thursday at McIntosh Church

Less than a week after celebration of his 83rd birthday anniversary, Thor Hegland died Monday at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Bekkerus, rural Moorhead.
He was born in Norway October 14, 1858.  When he was three years old he came to this country with his parents.  He had lived most of his life in the Fosston and McIntosh communities where he was engaged in farming until his retirement recently.
He had been in failing health for about a year, and in September he and Mrs. Hegland came to make their home at the Bekkerus farm.  He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, McIntosh.
He is preceded in death by one brother, one sister and four children.
Survivors are Mrs. Hegland, 13 children, 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  The children are, besides Mrs. Bekkerus, Mrs. Elmr Grover and Leonard, rural Moorhead; Carl, Glyndon; Anton 303 Fourth Street South; George, Van Hook, N.D.; Lawrence, Fargo; Alfred and Oscar, McIntosh, and Mrs. Grant Nordskog, Leland Ia.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3:00 pm at the McIntosh Lutheran church with Reverend C. M. Westermoe officiating. Burial will be at Fosston.
