Records show that Olina's father died before she was three months old. Her mother died before her 15th birthday. The family owned the Houg farm, and as indicated in the 1801 Census, they were able to maintain stability - Olina's older brother taking charge of the farm, probably at a very young age. He is reported as gaardmand on Houg in 1801.
