"Truck Driving Pearl"

Pearl worked on the farm from the time she was a small girl.  In the 1960s it was unusual for a farmwife to help in the field, but Pearl worked hard alongside Ray and seemed to enjoy it.  She was one of the women featured in an article entitled Harvest Time on "Family Farms"  Finds Women, Children in the Fields."

"...Experienced in the ways of a homemaker-truck driver, Mrs. Grover has it down to a system.   She even finds time to preserve raspberries and preserve pickles, as well as take a complete hot meal to the field at noon. She credits modern appliances with  helping speed up housework..."
