The Hegland home address was Whalan, which is at the western edge of Norway Township. Gunil's parents address was Peterson; their farm was in Rushford township.
Martin Ulvestad published histories of Norwegian settlements around the US in 1907 in his book "Nordmændene i Amerika" Neither Thor or Gunil's families are mentioned in the history, but for those with ties to this area, familiar names abound.
